Dorothy Heidmann Obituary

Dorothy Holub-Heidmann, 92, Algoma, passed away April 8, 2014 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit. Dorothy was born on January 6, 1922 to Walter and Nora (Haasch) Mueller in Forestville, Wisconsin. She was the eldest of four children. She attended St. Peter's Lutheran School, Forestville and Algoma High Schools and Door-Kewaunee Teachers College. Dorothy then taught in several one-room rural schools in the area. She married Roland Holub in 1942 and their marriage was blessed with five children. While raising her family, Dorothy continued teaching, farming and working toward her bachelor's degree. She graduated with a B.S in education from the UW-Oshkosh in 1966. She then taught sixteen years at Hillcrest Elementary School in Kewaunee.Roland and Dorothy farmed, gardened, and loved to travel and visit family. After Roland's death, she continued traveling attending LWML conventions, taking cruises, and overseas trips. She married Harold Heidmann in 1997. They enjoyed traveling and historical research.Dorothy was a life-time member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She was active in choir, Sunday school, Ladies' Aid, and Lutheran Women's in Mission. She was a member of Algoma Library Friends, Medical Center Auxiliary, and Kewaunee Historical Society. She is survived by her children: Jeanne (Rick) Meyers, Vacaville, CA; Susan (Steven) Younk, Sussex, WI; Shirley Holub, Algoma; and Karen (Scott) McDonald, Elk Grove, CA. Grandchildren: Ryan Schabow, Kevin (Sarah) Schabow, Chris (Aurelia) Meyers, Tiffani (Kenny) Lanting, and Leah Younk. Two brothers: Donald (Marilyn) Mueller and Delbert. One sister: June Novak Stepsons: David (Tina), John (Carol), Gary (Barb), and Bruce (Sis) Heidmann and their families. Step grandchildren: Carl, Frank, and William Laes, Lily (Rick) Krueger, and Christina (Chris) Massart. She had 17 great-grand children, 8 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands Roland Holub and Harold Heidmann, her son Thomas Holub, son-in-law Nathan Schabow, brother-in-law John Novak, sister-in-laws Dorleen Mueller and Lauraine LaMere, and daughter-in-law Doris Holub.Family and friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 4:30 pm - 8 pm, Friday April 11, 2014 and then after 10 am Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Forestville until time of services at 11 am with Rev. Christopher Jackson officiating.
