Dorothy Katherine (Felhofer) (Harmann) Ash

The Lord called Dorothy Katherine (Felhofer, Harmann) Ash to her heavenly home on the evening of Friday, November 29, 2024, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center with her family at her side.

Dorothy was born on September 30, 1934, to the late Henry and Mathilda (Urban) Felhofer and was baptized into the Christian faith.  She graduated from Sevastopol High School in 1952, and started working for her uncle, Attorney Robert Schoenbrunn, until her marriage to Glenn Harmann on June 7, 1958, when she then worked on their dairy farm with Glenn. Glenn and Dorothy started their family with the birth of their daughter, Karen in March of 1959, followed by twins Geraldine (Gerri) and Gary born in July of 1960. Glenn passed away in October of 1971, and Dorothy continued to run their farm with the help of her children.

After the marriage of her three children, Dorothy married Virgil Ash on June 10, 1988, and moved to Sturgeon Bay. They were blessed with almost 20 years of marriage when Virgil passed on January 25, 2008. Dorothy then moved back to her childhood farm north of Sturgeon Bay to continue working the farmland. In her later years, Dorothy resided at the homes of her three children.
Dorothy enjoyed working in the law office, doing bookwork along with preparing taxes for family members up until the most recent years. She also enjoyed polka dances, 4-H, Homemakers, Ladies Aid, and being involved in numerous church activities. During her marriage to Virgil, Dorothy made many new friends by picking and selling strawberries and raspberries grown in Virgil's immaculately kept garden.

Most of all, Dorothy enjoyed and loved all the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren, step-grandchildren and extended family. There were numerous holidays, birthday parties, family gatherings in addition to attending numerous sporting events and fair activities over the years. Her Lord and family were most important to her. Dorothy had a very loving and serving heart.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Karen (Christopher) Van Lanen and Geraldine (Gerri) Lewis; daughter-in-law, Denise Harmann; grandchildren and their families: Eric (Rachel) Harmann and sons McCoy and Keaton; Craig (Lyndsay) Harmann and children Harvey, Sloane and Sutton; Matthew (McKenzie) Van Lanen and sons Leo and Lincoln; and Alex Van Lanen; also step-children Ronald (Renate) Ash, Richard (Edie) Ash and Steve (Vicki) Ash; step-grandchildren and their families: Chris (Lisa) Ash; Kari Ash; Eric Ash; Allen (Ginny) Ash; Nathan (Michelle) Ash; Michael (Tina) Ash; Amy (Billy) Friess; Rich (Cristin) Ash; Brian (Becky) Ash; Corey (Becky) Ash; Stephanie (Len) Atkins; Jamie (Brad) Wery; Matt (Sadie) Ash; a sister Marlene Sibilsky and children Robert Sibilsky, Kevin (Jan) Sibilsky and Linda (Barry) Fenendael and their families; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, brother Russell Felhofer, son Gary Harmann, son-in-law Farrell Lewis, brother-in-law Rufus Sibilsky, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Harold (Arvilla) Harmann, Arthur (LaVerne) Harmann and Howard (Mildred) Harmann.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Algoma, with visitation from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at church, and lunch to follow the funeral service. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Algoma.
