Doris Schley

Doris Schley, 87, Algoma, died Monday May 23, 2011 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit. She was born January 11, 1924 in the Township of Ahnapee. Doris graduated from the Algoma High School in 1940. Doris farmed on their family farm with her brother Willard for many years until he died. Doris married Herman Schley Sept. 8, 1985 in Algoma. She sold the farm and moved to live with Herman at his home. Herman preceded her in death on October 9, 1990. She continued to live there until January of 2005 where she moved to live at Bay Road Place. Doris was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid, Homemakers Club, she volunteered at the former hospital in the gift shop and helped with the activities at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit. She enjoyed playing Sheepshead, playing with her cats and gardening. Doris is survived by two nephews, Gary (Janet) Seiler, Elkhart Lake; and Randy (Diane) Seiler, Sturgeon Bay; many great nieces and nephews; and one sister-in-law Delores Wolf, Sturgeon Bay. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herman, two brothers Stanley and Willard, two sisters, Marval Schley and Ethel Seiler, one niece Jeanette Uecker. Family and friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 5 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011 until the time of services at 7 p.m. with Rev. John Moll officiating.
