Doris Emelia Holub

Doris E. Holub, 75, Algoma, passed away Thurs. Sept. 12, 2013 at the Algoma Long Term Care Unit with her family at her side. She was born Nov. 14, 1937 in Kolberg to Frank and Lillian (Wiese) Benzow. Doris graduated from the Brussels High School and moved to Green Bay and worked as a Candy Striper for St. Vincent's Hospital. Doris married Carl Laes and raised her five children in Green Bay. She moved to Algoma and worked at the Algoma Hardwoods where she met and married Tom Holub Aug. 16, 1981. She continued to work at the Algoma Hardwoods until she retired at the age of 62. Doris was the secretary and 'Burger Queen' for the Black Ash Gun Club for many years. She also was a member of the Ring-necked Pheasant's Club, a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Forestville and always enjoyed 'The Shack' at deer hunting time. Doris is survived by her five children Carlton Laes, Jr, Frank Laes, Lily (Rick) Krueger, Christina (Christopher) Massart and William Laes; 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and one brother David (Laurie) Keller. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, and one great granddaughter Olivia Krueger and one brother Donald Family and friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 4 - 8 PM, Tues. Sept. 17, 2013 and after 10 AM Wednesday Sept. 18, 2013 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Forestville, until the time of services at 11 AM with Rev. Carl Brewer officiating. Prayer service 7 PM Tues. at the funeral home. Later her cremated remains will be buried in St. Peter's Cemetery, Forestville. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Algoma Long Term Care for all their compassion and care given to Doris during her stay there. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in memory of Doris.
