Donald Kinnard Obituary

Donald H. Kinnard, 84, Algoma, passed away very unexpectedly Monday, December 23, 2013 at home. He was born December 22, 1929 in Brussels to George and Clara (DeNamur) Kinnard. Donald graduated from the Brussels High School and worked for the Algoma Hardwoods for four years. Donald married Arlene Jeanquart October 26, 1949 in Namur. The couple took over the Kinnard farm in Brussels which has been in the family for over 100 years and raised their eight children. They sold the farm in 1997 and moved to Algoma, where they both worked at East shore Industries for a period of time. then they both retired. Arlene preceded Donald in death on June 18, 2004. Donald was an officer for the Holstein Friesian Assoc. and a director for the Door County Co-op. He drove school bus for many years and was a seed dealer for DeKalb Seeds for many years. Donald enjoyed shooting pool and playing cards at the Algoma Youth Club. He also loved to bowl and play baseball in his earlier years. Donald married Linda Cornette Zillmer on September 16, 2006 her her home in the back yard. Donald is survived by his wife Linda, six children Michael Kinnard, Sue (James) Falish, Richard (Colleen) Kinnard, Connie (Doug) Bitzan, Cathy (Lloyd) Linzmeier and Neil (Lori) Kinnard; step son Doug (Kathy) Zillmer Jr., step daughter Kathy (Jerry) Sternitsky; son-in-law Dave Vanlaanen, 31 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, one brother Francis (Esthel) Kinnard, one sister Ella Mae (Vincent) Maccoux; sister-in-law Delores (Clarence) Jeanquart; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Arlene, daughters Terry Vanlaanen and an infant Patty Ann, one daughter-in-law Sharon Kinnard, step son David Zillmer and one brother James (Betty) Kinnard, two brothers-in-law Lawrence (Delores) Jeanquart and Clarence Jeanquart. Family and friends may call at SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 3 - 8 PM, Friday, Dec. 27, 2013 and after 10 AM Saturday at St. Francis and St. Mary Catholic Church in Brussels until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Rev. Anthony Birdsall and Deacon Paul Zenefski officiating. Prayer service 7:30 PM Friday at the funeral home. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
