Cynthia C. "Cindy" Bruss, 76, formerly of Algoma, passed away unexpectedly at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born February 10. 1948, in Washington, D.C., to Clarence and Mary Ann (Peot) Marcussen. Cindy was in 8th grade when the family moved to Sturgeon Bay. At the age of 16, she attended the Holy Family Convent in Manitowoc to become a nun. After some of the classes she attended there, she realized that she wanted to become a nurse, so she left the convent and got her nursing degree.
Cindy met and married Charles Bruss on May 23, 1981, at SS Peter and Paul Church in Institute. They had two daughters, Beth and Becky.
Cindy's greatest joy was spending time with her five grandchildren, she was also a Girl Scout Leader for many years and loved serving in her church.
She is survived by her two daughters Beth (Steve) Scarson, Sioux Falls, SD; and Becky (Eric) Bottoms, Argonne, WI.; grandchildren AJ Bruss, Julia Hartwig, Kendra Scarson, Mason and Rubie Bottoms; three sisters Cathy (Country) Kennely, Cassandra (Toby) Larsen and Corey (Nathan) Welch, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, brother Claude Marcussen and sister Candice Ehnert.
There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Cindy on November 30, 2024, at 4:00 PM at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, with Pastor Kenneth Taylor officiating. There will be time to share for a short time after the service at 4:00 PM, but nothing before that.
