Clifford Julius Kroening

Clifford J Kroening, 89, Algoma, passed away Sunday April 3, 2016. He was born July 30, 1926 in Kodan to Ernest and Louise (Hafeman) Kroening. Clifford grew up in the Kodan area. He married Maxine Krueger Sept. 18, 1948 at the Salem Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Kodan for a few years before moving to Algoma. In Clifford's early years he drove a milk truck for a time, then worked for Bretl Trucking. Then for 42 years he worked at Algoma Lumber Company. Clifford loved to Polka Dance with his wife Maxine.Clifford is survived by his daughter Gloria (Bob) Schmelzer, Forestville; son Jeff (Terry) Kroening, Algoma; daughter-in-law Chris Kroening, Algoma; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters Gertrude Harmann, Algoma and Johanna (Henry) Opicka, Kewaunee; sisters-in-law Jean Krueger, Algoma; Carol Krueger, Kewaunee; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don (Carol) Krueger, Forestville; nieces and nephews.Clifford was preceded in death by his wife Maxine, son Randy, parents, two brothers Orville and Ernest; sister and brother-in-law Loretta (Jerome) Franda; brothers-in-law Victor Harmann, Bob 'Elton' Simonar; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jane (Henry) Schmiling, Duane (Lorraine) Krueger, brothers-in-law Dale Krueger and Marvin Krueger and nephew Ron Simonar.Family and friends may gather at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma, Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 9 am until the time of services at 11 am with Rev. Tom Moldenhauer officiating. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery.The family wishes to give a special thank you to the Algoma Long Term Care Unit, Unity Hospice and Bay Road Place for all the kindness and care given to Clifford during his stay.
