Charles J. "Chuck" Bruss, 74, Algoma, passed away June 26, 2024, with his family at his side at the Kewaunee Health Services Facility after a long battle with end stage kidney disease.
Chuck was born November 19, 1949, in Shawano, WI to William and Katherine (VanLoo) Bruss.
When Chuck was old enough, he entered the US Army and served two tours during the Vietnam Era as a Medic from 1968 to 1974.
Chuck met and married Cynthia "Cindy" Marcussen, May 22, 1981, at St. Peter and Paul in Institute, Door County.
He worked at Bay Ship for many years, until he was hurt on the job, and became a stay-at-home dad.
Chuck enjoyed the time he spent with his family, fishing, reading and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
He is survived by his wife Cindy, two daughters Beth (Steve) Scarson and Becky (Eric) Bottoms; five grandchildren Anthony (AJ) Bruss, Julia Hartwig, Kendra Scarson, Mason Bottoms and Rubie Bottoms; two sisters Linda (Tom) Bielefeldt and Diane Sell; two special nieces Lisa and Erin; many other nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Cathy (Country) Kenely, Cassandra (Toby) Larsen and Corely (Nathan) Welch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws, brother Norm Bruss, sister-in-law Candy Ehnert and brother-in-law Claude Marcussen.
There will be a public gathering on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the Schinderle Funeral Home from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. There will be no formal service, just sharing memories. The family encourages everyone coming to wear colorful clothing in honor of Chuck's life.
