Carl J. Braun, 87, Algoma, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012 at the Bornemann Nursing Home, Green Bay. Carl was born May 13, 1924 in Green Bay to Charles and Louise (Kumm) Braun. Carl's family lived in Green Bay until he was seven years old and then they moved to the Town of Ahnapee where his parents had a farm. He graduated from the Algoma High School in 1942. He worked at the US Plywood until 1953 when he moved to Pasadena California and lived there two years. He attended the Pasadena Playhouse and played an extra in a motion picture movie. Carl then moved to Milwaukee where he worked 30 years for JC Penny Company as a supervisor in one of there warehouses. After he retired from JC Penny he lived another 10 years in Milwaukee and moved to Algoma in 1995 where he lived until he was unable to take care of himself anymore. Carl spent all of his free time doing his family genealogy. He went over to Germany two times working on the research for his family history. Carl was also a lover of Boston Terrier dogs. He was a member of the Kewaunee County Historical Society, St. Paul's Lutheran Church and was a counter of the church money on Monday mornings. Carl is survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and three adult brothers Elmer, Earl and Robert Braun. Family and friends may call at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma from 9 am until the time of services at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2012 with Rev. John Moll officiating. Burial in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Forestville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kewaunee County Historical Society.
