Benjamin Shaw Obituary

Benjamin Joseph 'Benny Honna' Shaw,. 42, Algoma, passed away peacefully on Sunday January 1, 2012 at Aurora Hospital with his brother by his side and the love and support of family and friends over the past week. Benny was born in Algoma on June 7, 1969 to Eugene and Faith (Moreaux) Shaw. He attended St. Mary School and graduated from the Algoma High School in 1987. He married Melody Rhoades on May 28, 1994 and they have one daughter Lacey Shaw. Benny was a man of many trades. He enjoyed driving truck, carpentry, working the land with his dad, fixing cars with his brother Len, being there for his Mom and sisters when they needed him and 'scrapping' with his buddy Les. Benny took the time to enjoy life, family and friends. His sense of humor and quick wit will be missed. He touched the lives of many people - he was always willing to help anyone and expected nothing in return. He was a true friend to many. He is survived by his daughter Lacey and her mother Melody and her daughter Heather Swagel, his parents Eugene and Faith, Algoma; two sisters, Cori ( Ron) Farley, Algoma; and Julie (Jim) Evans, Reedsville; one brother Len (Kathy) Shaw, Algoma; seven nieces and nephews Jacob, Leah, Sarah, and Jennifer Farley, Michael and Beth Evans, and Raymond Shaw; Aunts and Uncles Bernard (Janet) Shaw, Luxemburg; Mark Shaw, Howards Grove; Clayton (Sue) Shaw, Janesville; Carol (Don) Chike, Kenosha; Jan (Fenton) Wierichs, Casco; Ronald Moreaux, Algoma; Carol Moreaux, Sturgeon Bay; Ed (Deanna) Moreaux, Georgia; Beatrice (David) Jeanquart, Luxemburg; many cousins. He is also survived by his special friend Linda, and will me missed by his cat Magpie. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Raymond and Mildred Shaw and Clinton and Harriet Moreaux, Uncle Jim Shaw, Aunt Donna (Fameree) Shaw, Uncle Clint Moreaux, Uncle Vic and Aunt Barb Moreaux and many great aunts and uncles. Family and friends may gather at the Schinderle Funeral Home, Algoma, from 3 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012 until the Memorial Service at 7 p.m. with Rev. Bill Swichtenberg officiating. Our family would like to thank the staff at Aurora Hospital and the Organ Procurement Organization for the compassionate care they provided Ben and our family this past week. Ben's death will give many families a chance to live with his gifts. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Ben's daughter Lacey for her education. 'Ben, we will miss your playful spirit, unconditional love and friendship. We will keep you close in our hearts dear son, dear brother and dear friends. Love always, your family.'
