Ardis M. Cermak, 84, Town of Clay Banks, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at home. She was born February 12, 1930 in the town of Nasawaupee to Edward and Clara (Olson) Viste. Ardis graduated from the Sturgeon Bay High School in 1947. She attended the Kewaunee Normal School and was in the class of 1949. She then graduated from the University of Oshkosh with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. She taught a total of 43 years primarily 4th grade, but also all eight grades at one time including; Pleasant View and Thrift from 1949-1956, Sturgeon Bay first grade - 1956-1957, Hainesville School 1958-1961, Carnot School - 1961 - 1973, and Southern Door Schools - 1973 - 1991. She was a member of the Tanum Forest Lutheran Church and held various offices, (WELCA treasurer from 1985 until the present), church choir for 70 years and Sunday School teacher and a member of the Retired Wisconsin Educators Assoc. of the Southern Door Archives. Ardis enjoyed hardunger needle point, other crafty projects, making lefse, helping younger children, crocheting and reading. Ardis was also involved in Learning in Retirement classes, where she attended and taught classes ranging from Hardunger at card games/games. She was still attending these classes up until two weeks ago. Ardis is survived by her brother Jerome (Jerry) Viste, nieces and nephews; Alice, Arlene, Bonnie, Donald Jr., twin brothers Dennis and Darrell, Gregg, Julie, Jill, James and Jonathan, David and Lynn She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Marvin on January 13, 2004, in laws Frank and Susan (Stegmann) Cermak, twin sisters Joyce and Fern, two brothers Clyde Viste and Donald Viste Sr. Friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the Tanum Forest Lutheran Church, 6102 County Trunk OO, until the time of services at 11:30 a.m. with Rev.
