Annette Pagel Obituary

Annette (Toni) Pagel, 98, Algoma, died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Bay Road Place. She was born June 16, 1913 in the home she lived in until the last few years to Carl and Elizabeth (Witte) Melchior. Tony graduated from the Algoma High School and attended one semester of college in Duluth, Minn. She moved back to Algoma to take care of her parents who were in ill health. After her parents died Tony worked for the Hotel Stebbins, Kohlbeck's and answered the phone calls for her husband's fishing charter service. Tony married Emil Pagel October 31, 1938 in Maplewood. Tony was a stay at home mom to raise her four sons. She enjoyed her precious time with her sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she was an avid reader and spending time at their cabin up north. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Rosary Society and VFW Auxillary. She is survived by her four sons, William (Grace) Pagel, Algoma; Richard (Gloria) Pagel, Sturgeon Bay; David (Ann) Pagel, Green Bay; and John (Joni) Pagel, Oshkosh; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren;nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren,nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Emil on October 16, 2007, one sister Marie (Jack) Burke and Carl (Norma) Melchior. Family and friends may gather at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 and after 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Algoma, until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Prayer service 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family wants to give a special thank you to Marilyn and the other staff at Bay Road Place for all the kindness and great care given to Tony during her stay there. In lieu of flowers, Tony would like memorials to go to St. Mary School at 118 Church St., Algoma, WI 54201. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.schinderle.com
