Allen "Butch" Vlies

Allen 'Butch' Vlies, 57, Forestville, died peacefully at home Monday May 27, 2013 with his family at his side. Butch was born June 14, 1955 in Algoma to Raymond 'Al' and Helen (Schlise) Vlies. He graduated from St. Mary Grade School and Algoma High School. He continued his education at NWTC with an Associate Degree. Butch enjoyed watching NASCAR and driving his vintage corvette that he owned. He was also active as a coach for St. Mary School Destination Imagination Program, building floats for local parades, woodworking and being out in his yard with all the wonderful nature around him. During his working career Butch worked for Peterson Builders, Inc., Marine Travel Lift and Exac Tech all in Sturgeon Bay. He is survived by his parents Ray 'Al' and Helen Vlies, Algoma; two sisters Cathy (John) Pabich, Algoma; and Susan (fianc' Mark Damaske), Mequon; two brothers John (Diana) Vlies, Algoma; and Paul (Carol) Vlies, Casco, nieces and nephews Alexis (Peter) Mittelstadt and their children Isabelle, Finnegan and Lilyanna; Andrew Pabich; Sarah (Eman) Gomez Rendon and their daughter Lenny; Anne, Steven and David Brookman; Tracey and Kelly Thyes and Abigail and Madeline Vlies; Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Friends may call at the SCHINDERLE FUNERAL HOME, Algoma, from 4 - 8 PM, Thursday, May 30, 2013 and after 10 AM Friday at St. Mary Catholic Church until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Rev. William Swichtenberg officiating. Entombment at the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers the family would like memorials to go to either the Forestville Library at 123 S. Forestville Road, Forestville, WI 54213 or to St. Mary Destination Imagination Fund at 118 Church St., Algoma, WI 54201 in memory of Allen. The family would like to thank Unity Hospice, Bellin Home Health, doctors, nurses and staff at Froedtert Medical Hospital and Bellin Health for all the care and kindness given to Allen.
