Alice Bisely, 91, Algoma and most recently of Kewaunee passed away Sat. Aug. 29, 2015 at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. She was born in 1924 to Gerhart and Ethel (Shaw) Leischow in Algoma. Alice graduated from the Algoma High School with medals she had won while in the band. She worked at Katch's Department store as a bookkeeper until her marriage to Donald Bisely in 1946. After her marriage Alice was a stay-at-home mom raising her two children. Alice was a lifetime member of the Algoma United Methodist Church and was also their longest member of the church. She was the first female trustee of the church, she was on the building committee and her grandparents Fred and Caroline Leischow were founding members of the church. She was a choir member, chairman for the worship committee and a member of the United Methodist Women's group. She was involved in elections as a poll worker, was an assistant bailiff for one year and a census taker for a period of time. She worked at the Sturgeon Bay Cannery Factory during the cherry season.Alice is survived by one daughter Sharon (Al) Gutowski, Green Bay; and son Bruce, Algoma; two sisters-in-law Mary Bisely and Marion Leischow, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald in 2009, one sister Carol (Henry) Muench, one brother Argene Leischow, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and one cousin Laurabell Leischow-DeKramer who lived with the Leischow family for a period of time.As per Alice's request there will be a private family service at the Algoma United Methodist Church with Rev. Cheryl Weaver officiating.
